About John McIntyre

John started at firms in New Mexico and California before returning home to Texas, first representing oil and gas companies and pipeline operators, including representing Chevron, Shell, and BP, who were tied up in the aftermath of Pacific Gas & Electric’s San Bruno pipeline explosion. John then gained valuable experience in oil and gas and renewable energy project developments in Texas, New Mexico, and California, where he assisted representing El Paso Electric Company and various other independent operators. He crafted, and continues to craft, contracts between various players, ensures regulatory permitting approvals, enforces contracts, leases, surface use agreements, and safety regulations, and ensures business compliance with laws and regulations. After practicing almost ten years at law firms, John next worked in-house for two companies involved with oil and gas and cattle operations, managing mineral, royalty, and other oil and gas assets and transactions, and assisting with agricultural projects, finally getting to the areas he is passionate about.

Now, John is back home and reconnecting with his ranching heritage, assisting clients with various estate planning issues, small business transactions, and rural family, ranching, and farming matters. When not practicing law, John enjoys making Texas barbecue and being horseback, whether on the family’s Texas ranch or in the mountains of New Mexico.

John graduated from the Texas Tech University School of Law in 2013, magna cum laude, where he served on its law review and was the national champion of the 2013 National Energy and Sustainability Moot Court Competition. He is licensed in Texas, New Mexico, and California.
